Nepal’s first president: NOT A MAOIST

Posted in Nepal News by Yerina on June 5, 2008

The first Nepali president is not going to be a Maoist but a neutral citizen with no political ties.

The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) have decided they will not choose someone from their party, which won the majority number of votes in the recent election. Read more on the decision.

The last king, Gyanendra Shah and his wife, Komal, were asked to vacate the historical palace in the heart of Kathmandu. Shah stepped down ending the 240-year-old monarchy on May 28, 2008.

I hope there won’t a long line of potential presidents with their resumès outside the parliament :)
